A comprehensive upgrade to our new design system. We focused on the key jobs to be done: Transact, Pay, Reward. This was a long undulating project as we balanced priorities, approximately two years.

I led and managed through changing people, priorities, and systems.
Users
All members and potential members with qualifying credit. At its core, users care about absolute simplicity in three experiences with credits cards: Transactions, Payments, Rewards.

Question #1: “How much do I owe?”
The most important question of all, what’s my current balance? Secondary for those with smaller lines, how much can I spend? And lastly, and unfrotunately quite common,

We validated quickly some opportunities to simplify. Pay had more context with our new payment widget. Statements and Rewards were sparingly used. And members wanted more direct access to their card information. In addition, balance calculations left members looking for more.

Question #1: “How much do I owe?”
The most important question of all, “what’s my current balance?” Secondary, for those with smaller lines, “How much can I spend?” And lastly, and unfortunately quite common, “Wait, these numbers seem off?” We ran with these simple questions, and let the heirarchy follow. We took that and let the card art reinforce the brand and being a distinguishing element for those with multiple cards.
